This server is a member of the Global Administration system. By agreeing to be part of this system, the server has a minimum set of rules that players must adhere to.
+
==Overview==
 +
The Community Administration Network is an independent orginisation of server owners and administratiors who have chosen to group together to provide the best possible play experience to bzflag players.

By joining a server that belogns to the system, you agree to follow these rules. If you do not agree with them, please feel free to disconnect and play on another server with diferent rules.
+
==Organization==
 +
The Network is made up of servers who's owners have chosen to allow the network administration staff the ability to manage and enforce a specific set of rules on there servers.

0) You must register with the global login system to play. You can not spawn or talk unless you register and identify. No exceptions.
+
The network is made up of the following groups.

1) No cheating. Of any sort. If a cop determinnes that your cheating, it's up to you to prove to them that you arn't. End of story. If there is a techincal issue that is causing the problem, then work with the administration to find out how to solve the issue. This may mean going to a private server, and testing settings with the admin staff and/or the developers of the project. Work with them, not against them. If you arn't cheating then there will be a solution to the problem and you can go back to playing once it's resolved.
+
===Server Owners===
 +
These are server owner/operators that have chosen to participate in the network. The owners have agreed to the rules for servers and have been accepted into the network. They run the CANAdmin plug-in as part of there server setup.

2) No using in game bugs/problems to gain an unfair advantage. Even if every client has the bug or issue, that dosn't mean you can use it to get an advantage. This includes using in game features to introduce artificial lag spikes, or tweaks to your OS/System to gain increased reaction times. If the admin staff calls you on this behavor, stop it. If you continue, then administrative action will be taken.
+
===Field Administrators===
 +
These are administrators chosen from the community to do the day to day administration of network servers. They are normal players that have agreed to the terms and rules for CAN Field Administrators. They use the CANAdmin plug-in on network servers to perform there administration actions. All actions by all administrators are logged by the network for review.

3) No using external apps to gain an unfair advantage. It dosn't mater if you haven't modified the code, your still cheating in spirit. Play normal like everyone else.
+
===Core Administrators===
 +
These are a smaller group of administrators that in addition to the abilities of the Field Administrators, is responsible for arbitrating disputes between players and field administrators , and for adding or removing field administrators when needed. The Core administration team is also responsible for approving and reviewing the servers that make up the network.

4) NO arguing in public with the admin staff. If you disagree with the descions of the admin staff, then please take it to the aprporpirate place ( as shown below ). They will gladly discuss it with you calmly. Insulting people in game will not win you any points.
+
===Network Administrator===
 +
The network administrator is the one person responsible for the entire network. They create the rules that all other administrators and server owners agree too. The network administrator has veto power over any action of the other administrators, but must provide a reasonable explanation, or face the other administrators abandoning the network ( making it pointless ).

5) No Team killing, self genoside, or other disruptive in game acts. Disruptive acts in game that are not conducive to playing the game will not be tolerated. Everone makes mistakes, sure, but if you are repeatedly doing actions that cause other players problems, action will be taken.
+
==CANAdmin plug-in==
 +
The network administrators make use of a special plugin that server administrators install to allow network administration. This allows admins to use apply network wide warnings, kicks, and bans to users that violate the network rules and regulations. The network admins are only able to enforce the network specific rules on servers, and by default do not have any additional adminstrative permisions or abilities on any server. A server owner may choose to give network administrators additional abilities, but it is not required for network membership.

6) No cursing, or inapropriate language, or spaming. The in game chat is for just that GAME chat. it is not a soapbox for your ideas, nor is it is your blog. Treat other players with respect and in a civil manner. Keep language kid safe and friendly, everyone is here to play and have fun. Keep "trash talk" to a minimum. If you are warned by an admin, tone it down and apologise. If the chat portion of playing is more of a "game" to you, then take it to another server.

7) If you have an issue that needs an admin, take it up with them in private. If you have an issue with an admin, take it up with the core admins. If you have an issue with a core admin, take it up with the network admin. If you have an issue with the network admin, then it would be best if you didn't play on servers that are in the network.
+
==Rules==
 +
The network has a very specific set of rules that it applies to servers. This rule set is expected to be a small subset of the rules on any one server. CAN Administrators will only enforce these specific rules by default. Ever administrative action ( warn, kick, and ban ) will be logged with the rule number that the violation applies to, as well as any applicable logs or records needed.

 +
===1) Global Registration===
 +
All users must be globally registered and identified to play. This includes spawning and talking. Violations of this rule never have administrative action, as it is automatically enforced by the CANAdmin plug-in.

Each server in the network sets there own rules for the specific games, and the may impose additional rules on top of these rules. Again if you do not agree with the rules for a specific server, please feel free to play on another server.

By joining the Administration network, server owners agree to be administered by the Global Administration Team using these rules.

CAN logo.png This page contains information about an idea called the Community Administration Network Project. It does not represent any rules, opinions, or regulations for the BZFlag project. The C.A.N. was an idea whose author has lost interest. The information is left here for others to use if they wish to take up similar projects.

THE CAN IS NO LONGER AN ACTIVE IDEA

Overview

The Community Administration Network is an independent orginisation of server owners and administratiors who have chosen to group together to provide the best possible play experience to bzflag players.

Organization

The Network is made up of servers who's owners have chosen to allow the network administration staff the ability to manage and enforce a specific set of rules on there servers.

The network is made up of the following groups.

Server Owners

These are server owner/operators that have chosen to participate in the network. The owners have agreed to the rules for servers and have been accepted into the network. They run the CANAdmin plug-in as part of there server setup.

Field Administrators

These are administrators chosen from the community to do the day to day administration of network servers. They are normal players that have agreed to the terms and rules for CAN Field Administrators. They use the CANAdmin plug-in on network servers to perform there administration actions. All actions by all administrators are logged by the network for review.

Core Administrators

These are a smaller group of administrators that in addition to the abilities of the Field Administrators, is responsible for arbitrating disputes between players and field administrators , and for adding or removing field administrators when needed. The Core administration team is also responsible for approving and reviewing the servers that make up the network.

Network Administrator

The network administrator is the one person responsible for the entire network. They create the rules that all other administrators and server owners agree too. The network administrator has veto power over any action of the other administrators, but must provide a reasonable explanation, or face the other administrators abandoning the network ( making it pointless ).

CANAdmin plug-in

The network administrators make use of a special plugin that server administrators install to allow network administration. This allows admins to use apply network wide warnings, kicks, and bans to users that violate the network rules and regulations. The network admins are only able to enforce the network specific rules on servers, and by default do not have any additional adminstrative permisions or abilities on any server. A server owner may choose to give network administrators additional abilities, but it is not required for network membership.

Rules

The network has a very specific set of rules that it applies to servers. This rule set is expected to be a small subset of the rules on any one server. CAN Administrators will only enforce these specific rules by default. Ever administrative action ( warn, kick, and ban ) will be logged with the rule number that the violation applies to, as well as any applicable logs or records needed.

1) Global Registration

All users must be globally registered and identified to play. This includes spawning and talking. Violations of this rule never have administrative action, as it is automatically enforced by the CANAdmin plug-in.

// can rules

1) global auth

2) non offsensive names

3) no cheating

4) no sploits

5) no greifing

6) no cursing.

7) no offensive/disruptive actions.

8) no global attacks.

What the CAN is.

The can is a group of people: The network consits of people. People that the server owners have chosen to trust to enforce a set of rules.

The CAN is reasonable: Network admins are more then willing to listen to anyone who has been kicked or banned, as long as the user is willing to work with them in a reasonable and Civil manner. If a user has an issue that can not be reasonabaly resolved with an administrator, they should take it up to the next level of administration as indicated on the CAN contact site.

The CAN keeps records, lots of them: The network admin plug-in will track all actions it does, and can provide them for review. These records are available for review by any admin at any time for any issue.

The CAN is a team: Network administrators work together. Any admin can help you, there is no need to track down the specific admin that you worked with last.

What the CAN is not.

THe can is not your mom. The network is not here to arbitrate small disagreements in playstyle. It is not here to make billy stop touching your flag. It is not here to decide what is or isn't fair in games. It is simply here to enforce a set of rules.

The CAN does not take over a server. By default network admins to not have access to a server banlist, groups, passwords, users, or any other abilities. All network actions happen via the CAN admin plugin and do not change your server settings in any way.

The CAN is not a democracy. The network is a service provided by it's administrator and his trusted sub-admins. Server owners can choose to allow the CAN onto there servers, or they can not.

The CAN is not the master ban list. While some of the network administration staff is also part of the BZFlag project, the network itself is not. Network bans are not part of the global master ban list that is applied by default to all public servers. Actions against the project itself may result in CAN administrative action, but the reverse is not true.
