Overview

The list server usage policy describes the intened use of the BZZFlag List Server service that is provided by the project administration. It also described the acceptable behavor for the users of the system.

Policy

(PRELIMINARY, EDITS PENDING )

The list server is provided free of charge to the BZFlag players and server owners.

For players the list server provides a list of compatible internet games, as well as an account verification system that can tie a player to their forum account ( also known as 'Global Login' ). Any information sent to the list server is kept confidential, and is only used by the project staff for administration purposes.

Players who are disruptive or fraudulent to any public or project services, large groups of servers, or large groups of individuals will be denied access to the public list servers. Players who have been known to cheat or abuse the game on large groups of servers may also be denied access.

For server owners, the list server provides public listing of any number of BZFlag game server instances, as well as token and permission group verification for global login services. No player personal information is sent from the list server to the game servers ( password, email, etc.. ).

Server owners who run servers that are known cheat servers ( advertised or not ), use server modifications or "bot" clients to artificially inflate list position, or have disruptive or slanderous names or descriptions will be prevent from listing.

The project itself does not have anything to do with exactly how servers are run or administered, unless the server affects other servers or large groups of players.

It is important to understand that the list is provided for free at the project's discretion, the data contained in it, nor the service of hosting it is in any way "open source" and no user has any inherent "right" to use it. We provide it for the ease of use of the community. We will not tolerate any abuses of it or other public services.

The project reserves the right to allow or disallow access to any public or project service to any user at any time with out notice.
